Scam calls from "Card Services"

I just got a phone call from a "private caller" (that is, with no caller ID information) and heard a recording from "Card Services", who claimed that my credit card's interest rate was about to go up and to press 9 if i wanted to lower it to 6.9%. Being bored, I pressed it.

Caller: Hi, would you like us to lower your interest rates?
Me: Who are you with?
Caller: Well, would you be interested?
Me: Who are you with?
Caller: We are Card Services.
Me: So, you're not affiliated with my bank?
Caller: slams the phone down in my ear

I guess they weren't.

So, if you also get a call from Card Services, remember that it's 99.9% likely that they're scammers and that it's morally OK to mess with them. If you want to have fun and waste their time and otherwise abuse them, reply here to tell us what happened so we can all enjoy it.

Update on July 30, 2009:

By request of a letter from the Rubinis' attorney, I have removed their home addresses from comments. Please do not re-post such information. Thanks.

Update on August 11, 2009:

The Rubinis issued this statement via their lawyer:

Clear Financial Solutions does not engage in or perform any telemarketing activities. Any complaints or allegations to the contrary are false and without merit.

Talk to them for a while, and tell them about your "debt".

Then just mention that you like to have a conversation while you masturbate.
Oddly enough, they don't seem to call back. Go figure.

They are at it still

i just got a call on my cell phone. The number that called was 815-730-4900. They said my credit card had been compromised. That i needed to answer 3 questions. The first was they wanted my credit card number. I immediately hung up. Do not give out any information.

THANK GOODNESS I FOUND THIS THREAD!!!

Thanks to the stories shared on this thread, I was able to avoid exactly this scam this afternoon. I wrote a blog post about it in case it's helpful to others and linked to this thread. Find me on Wordpress blog called Fizgiggery if you want to read more. (Can't put URL due to spam filter.)

NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR ZIP CODE AND CREDIT CARD NUMBER - the scammers place you on hold to call your bank, and can get all sorts of automated info about your account (current balance, remaining credit line, payment date, minimum payment) which lull you into a false sense of security! HANG UP!

Here's their info, kids; go get 'em!!

see my site at www.cemiller.com for all their contact information.

JUST DOG PIX, NO INFO

There's no info on the bad guys at the cemiller site, only pix of a deceased family pet. Don't know for sure but there could be something bad hidden in the pixels of those dog photos so if you go to this site beware of the risk!

American Life Solutions Scam

I am at home today with the day off just got done with the call. Pressed 1 and it rang and rang. So I hung up. About 15 minutes later they called and I got sucked into the call. I have a card that won't change the rate...they won't close the account, they won't work with me and I've been trying for a while now...so the thought of getting 6.9% would be great!

So, I hung up and started thinking about the call and thought why, if they are going to help me would they need a card to have an available balance on it other than to charge me for their services - It hit me = SCAM! I called my credit card company (who I think is a scam in itself for the rate they jacked up on my account) and had my account number changed. My new card is in the mail. I just hope they, the scammers, don't find any other way to scam me with the information I gave them.

And now I am sadly disappointed in myself because I surely hope they don't hound me. I think finding those FBI phone #'s and Chat line phone #'s is what I will have to have on hand for the next call ...or when they call I'll tell them I have contacted a local credit counselor and no longer need their service in hopes they leave me alone.

So, that's why I'm here...I called the #877-659-9935 they gave me - (because I said I would make a payment to my card because "I wouldn't qualify unless I had a $1000 available on my card!!!")....and asked them who they were and the gal said Amercian Life Solutions and they've been in business for 10 years.

Well, everything that everyone has said here so far is what has happened when they called so I know for sure they are a scam.

Thanks to all for writing here! This helps so much. I've been scammed before and that's why I have the ridiculously high rate on the credit card because I took a cash advance to pay a scammer...and then the credit card company raised my already ridiculously high rate to a higher rate and now I have no way to get out of it because no lenders will touch me right now. It's a terrible mess. And to think I almost got scammed again. That would be like getting scammed three times on the same money.

WOW! Watch out everyone! Do not send anyone any money! Even if they seem legitimate and have their ducks in a row - like the guy who scammed me in the first place. I was working on a business deal to purchase a local car wash with a business broker who actually helps people find lenders...(I had plenty of credit - just no cash) and We All Got Duped! So, don't believe ANYONE!!! Just don't do it. Now I will be paying on this for many years to come. And then these scumbags "American Life Solutions" calls to help! This world is full of SCAMS...One after the other!

card services scam

I just got a similar call, press 9 to talk to an agent to lower your rate. The call came from 221-000-1177. She asked if I wanted to lower my rate. I JUST started to ask her a question and I heard a LOUD racket in the background & she hung up.

card services scam

I just received similar phone calls from the following numbers: 813-322-5027 and 407-219-5960. I did a reverse look up unable to verify the 1st number but the other was listed as Premier Debt Solution 1203 N. Pine Hills Rd, Orlando Fla. 32808 but the number doesn't accept incoming calls. I did play along with them but when I question why they needed the lit of my account numbers they suposedly transferred me to a suppervisor. I told them that I needed time to retrieve the information and that they should call me back within a 1/2 hr. A Denise did call back but when I told her that I was trying to call them back & was unable to do so. She abruptly hung up. The lenghts these people go through to trap you & very convincing as well. The rule is DO NOT give any personal information over the phone to anyone no matter how good it sounds. I know we all are looking for our rates to be reduced but not under these circumstances. If the offer is real have them forward the information by mail for your review & this way you cut them off immediately.

card services scam

The lifetime of this scam is impressive.
I've dealt with these guys several times over the last 2 years.
Don't waste effort reporting to any agencies, you'll get nowhere.
If you upset them in some way, i.e. get irate or threaten them, you'll receive a barage of calls from different numbers from them, requiring you to block them, one by one, until they stop.
Best way I've dealt with them is to play along until they ask how much your CC balances are: tell them a low number, say $100. They'll hang up and not call back for months/years.
There is no permanent solution (so far) so they never call back.
Several folks have attempted to waste over an hour of their time (and, by all means, if sacrificing your time like that brings comfort to you, then do it) but months/years later they still call back.
If law enforcement reads this, please allow these scammers to charge your card, trace the charges to a physical location, and then post the physical location here. We want an exact address please. We'll take care of the rest.

They don't give up....

I was on the phone with them and I had to just hang-up... 312-999-0000. Don't answer the phone it's bogus. They try to sell you this scam about lowering your interest rate on all your card.. BULL>>>

Card Services

They are now using (626) 666-2000 as their number, at least for now. They called me this morning, but my cell phone was on "vibrate" mode, so I didn't hear it. I noticed that I had a missed call, so I called the number, however, the message stated, "You have reached Card Services. Our office is now closed." What office is closed at 10:00am? I googled "card services" and found your blog. THANK YOU so much for having this blog! Spread the word.

Card Services Lady Says It's Business

Hey guys,

I just received a phone call to my house from Card Services asking for my sister-in-law who does not live in my house. I asked the lady what the call was regarding, and she hesitated a bit and said that she can not give out that information. I asked her if she was selling anything, and she said no, and that she was not selling anything but that it's about business, strictly business. I, not knowing about Card Services, told them I was the brother in law, and that I will have my sister in law call right back. Told my sister in law about it and she said that it was a scam and that she will call her bank instead. I called the number back, and an automated machine asked for my last four digits of my credit card, and I punched in four random numbers and a lady from Card Services answered. It actually sounded pretty real, she sounded like she was in a call center. I said I called the wrong number and she said, 'oh' and hung up.

The number the lady had me call back at was 1-877-733-5734. Call them and say hi.

How did these scammers get our phone numbers!?!?

Comment above

The 877 number is not the card services scam, it's actually bank of America. He knew all of my information when I called. I've played along with the scammers a couple of times, and I can tell you that they sound different than any bank call center I've ever spoken with. The scam artists sound very uneducated and sound like they're from the "hood". They have a bit of attitude and it's a very informal tone of voice. If you have time to speak with them, and pull a prank, do it. Keep them on hold a bunch of times, but before that, when they ask you how much you owe give them an absurd amount like 300,000. They will hold forever. If they sound annoyed ask them if they really want your business because they don't sound like they have time.

Just had the same thing 07/27/10 - 1525Hrs

They just called me and thought I would listen for a few minutes. They kept complaining that they could not hear me which seemed a little odd even after I transfered to a hard wired phone. Once on the hard wired, the lady went thru her little talk and started asking if I was interested. I said, which card company are you from and all she would say was Card Services. When I pushed back and wanted more information she slammed the phone down. Pretty much new it was BS from the start of the call, but sometimes you just need a laugh.

alot of the same

They called me today and i wanted them to stop so i had it call a live person and i told them that i didn't want them calling me any more and then she said she would remove me from the "list" -- WHAT LIST i never gave them my phone number but as soon as i said i know this is a scam she hung up the number was 7024934612

Sign of Good Faith

"Card Members Services, Inc." has been calling me incessantly despite attempts to be removed from their call list. Next time they call I am going to string them along awhile until I get a "supervisor" and then tell them I will be happy to give them all of my information if they will give me a sign of good faith: "Please give me YOUR social security and credit card numbers!"

I have been getting these calls for a few years

I had always suspected they were a scam - probably just phishing for personal info. This is the first time I have looked online for other peoples' experiences.

At one point, they called me 1-2 times per day for 2 weeks (most of the time I didn't answer). Reported them to the FTC repeatedly, but I knew the caller ID numbers were bogus. I even had the phone company "mark" the number of the call - a service for which you are charged (only $1 or so). Unfortunately, they don't give you the number, but have it available for the authorities if they request it. I'm sure the FTC never followed up on it.

Finally, I played along with them. The guy asked me for my card number and I told him I thought he had that information - he explained that he was not the card company, but that they work WITH the card companies. I asked what company he was with and he said "Card Services". I acted like I was convinced. He asked again for my card number and I told him that I didn't have it with me because I was in so much CC debt that I wasn't using it and that my wife hid it from me but if he gave me a few minutes that I thought I might be able to find it. He agreed. I left the phone and did something else. Came back after 10 minutes or so and he was still waiting. Told him I couldn't find it but that I would look for an old bill and call him back. He wouldn't give me a number and gave some story that he was hard to reach but said he would call back. He never did - in fact the calls stopped for months!

Now recently, I have started getting them again at home and on my cell phone. They don't seem to have any of my personal information.

I'm prepared though - I won't answer my cell from numbers I don't know. At home I will just answer and put them on "indefinite" hold while I'm "looking" for my card. I'd get more creative, but if I waste my time, I somehow feel like they win. Maybe I should answer the calls on the cellphone and use my bluetooth earpiece while conducting on my daily routine. Maybe I could talk to them while I'm checking out at a store and talk to them like I'm an addict calling his sponsor while scoring. LOL!

I gotta say they're not that smart. You would think that an internal "do not call" list would help them. I mean if they call your number and you don't fall for their scam, what makes them think that if they keep calling with the same scam, that you will fall for it. The fact that they are willing to waste their own resources trying to scam people who know better offers a small amount of consolation.

Card Services Scam

I got excited about this one... I had to call back because I was in my car... When I called back no one answered and then I did a reverse dial look up and felt SCAMMED big time! They almost had me!!! They called me back today and I was at my computer and typed in "Card Services" and found your blogs here and collective experience w/ this outfit. I promptly hung up the phone!!! The number they are using now is 209 321 9887. Next time I get a similar call I will verify the company using several smart methods and I will still be careful before I give out sensitive CC information - My only fear now is that they will not stop calling

Another "Card Member Services " Scam!

I just received yet another phone call from "Card Member Services." First, an automated voice asks if I want to lower my interest rates and that I am receiving this call due to President Obama's "Credit Relief Protection Act." If I do, press # 1. I know this is a scam, but I press # 1 anyway just to mess with these thieves/waste their time because I cannot stand the fact that:
Number 1- they are trying to scam me.
Number 2- how stupid they think we "customers" are.
Then a man comes on and asks me if I want to lower my high interest rates on my credit cards. I ask him what credit card company he is affiliated with and he states that he represents many different credit card companies. I then ask him if he needs personal information such as my S.S.# or credit card numbers because if he does, I am not interested. He states that if I will not give him my S.S.# then yes, he needs my credit card numbers. I tell him that I am not comfortable giving him this information. I also tell him that I have received this type of phone call before and that I contacted my credit card companies (ie. Chase) to find out if they are affiliated with "Card Member Services" or similar companies. I told him that the companies told me that these types of calls are scams and to NEVER provide personal information to someone contacting me on their behalf, that I would never receive a phone call from "Chase" asking for any personal information.
I then ask him if he is working on behalf of my bank and/or credit card companies, why doesn't he already have the information that he is requesting. He sounds annoyed and states that he can do nothing with just my credit card numbers and that he is not requesting the pins or 3 digit security numbers on the backs of my credit cards. He also states that he can give me a number to call and verify that he is calling from a legitimate company. He states that if my interest rates are above 12%, he can "help" me. I tell him that I only have 2 credit cards and that both of my interest rates are below 12%, and in fact, the interest rate on one of my credit cards is at 0%. He then asks me if the rate is a promotion or did I "earn" it. I tell him that I earned it. Click. He hangs up on me.
The number he called me from is 1-206-397-1563- always a red flag when a large company does not call you from either an 800 or 866 phone number. I try to call back and get an automated voice, which thanks me for calling back and then asks me if I would like to be removed from their calling list. If I do, press # 1, which I did (however, I know they will call again). I do a reverse look-up of the phone number and the company is based in Seattle but there is no name or address.
People, PLEASE, tell everyone you know about this scam from "Card Member Services" or "Credit Card Services." I cannot tell you how many people I know that have fallen for this particular scam. A red flag should be raised immediately if someone contacts YOU asking for ANY personal info such as your S.S.#, credit card(s) numbers, etc. These calls are NEVER LEGITIMATE!!! I HOPE THESE THIEVING BASTARDS GET CAUGHT-A LONG SHOT I KNOW- AND PROSECUTED!!!

P.S.- today is a holiday, banks closed. Why would a credit card company call today of all days?

I absolutely got the same

I absolutely got the same call. First 8 digits were the same as my number. I didn't realize this until I went back and looked at the caller id.

When I first answered the phone I was busy writing and didnt look at the caller id. I received a call from someone claiming to be Cardmember Services to lower my interest rate on my credit card. They had a bunch of info on me already and got my credit card acct number from me as well as other info off the card. They also got the last 4 digits of my ss#. After the call had gone on for a while, they identified themselves as American Life Solutions. Another red flag. I thought they were cardmember services? hmmm.... Me being in a crisis right now being unemployed and collecting unemployment that will be running out since I can't find a job, fell for the bull shit. They told me it would cost me nothing since I was in good standing and never late on my bill, then once they got some info from me, they told me I would see a charge of $795.00 on my credit card statement but not to worry because I would be saving that and more in interest.

Their info was becoming contradicting and I became suspicious and ended the call and immediately and called my credit card company and had the card closed and issued a new one. Luckily I acted fast enough as there was no charge on the card when I called.

The first number she gave me was 18006134764 ext 1015 and told me I could get in contact with her at that number. Later in the call, she gave me another number to contact her, which was 1-877-659-9935 and when I confronted her about the contradicting phone numbers, I said "what about the other number you gave me?" and she said "don't worry about that number, this is the number you can reach me at". After going through several people on the phone as to make it seem legit, I ended up on the phone with someone going by the name Chris from their supposed Verification Dept. He wanted me to answer yes to some questions. I abruptly ended the call and contacted my credit card company and had my card cancelled and issued a new one.

If I would have realized the caller id at first, I would have known for sure cuz I live in a small town and there are no kind of companies like that around here. I later called the spoofed number that came up on my caller id and asked them if they had called my house earlier and they said no and I told them what was going on. I didn't think it came from them, I knew it had to be some kind of scam someone is using to make other phone numbers show up on caller id. They told me that they were receiving similar calls.

I guess they give you a completely anonymous number first until they get some info from you then once they get info, they will actually give you a number for the company they claim to be later in the conversation (which they are not) and then when you call that number, they don't know what is going on. The first number she gave me was MRI Property Group and when I entered the extension she gave me, it dont exist.(the number she later told me not to worry about). The second number she gave me is actually computer answered by American Life Solutions. I didnt speak to anyone there, but I wanted to see what would happen if someone answered.

During our conversation she wanted me to write things down like what they were guaranteeing me to save on interest, time, date, etc. Well, she told me to write down that I would save a minimum of $1000.00 and to write down 3:22 EST July 10, 2010. This raised more red flags because the date she told me to write down was wrong. It was actually July 09, 2010. She also tried to be reassuring during the call when I became suspicious, that all calls can be traced. Man, these people are total assholes and if I can meet them face to face, I would push my fist through their skull till it came out the other side. I don't care if its a woman or not. I'm so disgusted with these morons trying to steal from innocent people. May you all rot in the depths of hell with satans pitch fork up your asses for all of eternity.

Scam basterds call my cell phone

Hey,

Thanks for putting up an ad like this, to warn us all on how these criminals are working their way through our phone calls and pretending to be from card member service. They had called me at 11:20 am from a phone number 520-360-2728 and said that they were Card Member Services." and had an automated voice asks if I want to lower my interest rate to press 1 so i did and as soon as the other person answered he had ask" So you want a lower rate on your interest?" and I responded "how do i know this isn't a scam???" and he hung up on me. I called back the number I had on my caller ID and it seems to be link with a cell phone number with a voice mail saying they will now accept any voice mail at the time. Isn't there a way we can report this phone number in and trace where it's coming from? Or are the Feds too busy with everything else that we can't do anything about these Nasty phone calls. I'll be back, to follow up if there would be anything we can do to stop them with the number i got from my caller id.

Where to report

https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2 There is the place to complain. Apparently using machines to call qualifies as an offense regardless of whether or not you are even on the registry. Signing up for the do not call registry is a good idea if you arent.

"Card Services" just called, did some reverse social engineering

Call was from a Tony Seals from "Card Services". The long a short of it was that he needed my credit card number and 1.800 number so he could call the card company and reduce my interest rates. I bullshit them around until "david" his supposed manager got on the phone and I told him to get bent and that I was calling the FTC. All of the information I collected is below:

Tony Seals - Said he was an Account Rep. Not sure what that means...
He said he could be reached at 1.888.568.5274. No direct extension but he said the receptionist would put my call through to him.
Said he has 6 kids. I guess he needs to steal from people to feed them.
Said he was calling from and lived in Atlanta GA.

I really hope someone does something about these people.

Feel free to call both Tony Seals and his manager David.

Credit card services

Found this Company that keeps calling me. For two years I've told them to stop calling and that I'm on the do not call list.

Debit Erasers
San Diego, CA

http://www.debteraser.com/

card holder services

I just got a call from this same group using a cell phone. this did not strike me as wrong at first but once it did I KNEW A LEGIT. COMPANY WILL NOT CALL USING A PRIVATE CELL PHONE. This one came from Grorgia from a male who got mad when I told him to quit calling and that I was on the National do not call list. His statement was to go ahead and report him. This was clearly another scammer trying to get money for doing nothing but stealing from others, This guy recording when I called back was Matt.

Who they are

I got a call recently and pushed 9 to get a live person, asked what company it was and got the canned credit card services, told him I was on the do not call list, he did something where he verified my number, but of course he said what sounded like "lawn" instead of eight, at that point I wasn't sure the guy was saying there so I asked him and he blew up (obviously 'lon' means eight). The guy claimed to be in pakistan, which is probably true, acted like he was superior because his company is bailing stupid american's out of debt and how we're dumb for using credit cards (not necessarily wrong about that in the general sense...). He also said his company didn't work for an american business, I'm sure he was lying about that, but mostly his spent his time swearing and calling me a "dumb nuts" with an occassional actual swear word or two, but generally being extremely unproffessional. The guy also did a pretty good american impression, not the kind where he talks without an accent and sounds american, more like the kind a comedian would do on stage if he was doing an impression of jeff foxworthy, I actually found this part pretty funny (though I'm sure it was probably an attempt to mock my missouri accent... which ahem... is now bad enough I hear my own accent, not sure how that happens).

Just for the record, I don't think there is anything remotely legitimate about the company, but don't expect them to honor any no call list, particularly one where the rules are supposed to be enforced by the US government, as these people are not operating in the US and probably have learned not to divulge the company they are working for under any circumstances.

thanks for the efforts you

thanks for the efforts you have made in writing this article..In fact your creative writing abilities has inspired me to start my own BlogEngine blog now. anyway, continue your great job, and always gain my support!
implant mammaire

They're still calling on 6/21/10

Just got calls on both of our phone lines, both from "Rachel at cardholder services" and both telling me to press 9 to lower my credit card interest.

I've been getting these calls for years. When I've tried to ask for information about who they are they go into a loop response that they are cardholder services, as though I were a moron for not knowing who they were. Today I pressed 9 twice. The first time they asked if I was calling to lower my interest rate. When I said "No, I want my number taken off your list" they hung up around the time I said "No." For the second call I gave them a first answer of yes, and could hear the operator settle as though he was getting ready to take lots of notes. When I said I'd like to have my number taken off their lists he told me he couldn't understand what I was saying. When I repeated the request, using only church-suitable one-syllable words, he hung up.

I'd love to report these people, but I've never gotten a phone number or a business name out of them. If they call at a time when I can waste a bit of effort I'll see if I can learn anything useful enough for me to report their sorry asses to the FTC and the FCC.

Re Message from a Telephone Man

Thanks for the info. I called back the number that called me (they said they were "Card Member Services") and got some completely different kind of spam! A black guy telling ladies to leave him a message and he would take them to lunch. lol.
I filed a report with the FTC.

Same message

The number that called me was from Georgia... 404-503-2136 - I called it back and got the same recording... "if you're a beautiful woman, etc. etc... take you to lunch". They're obviously employing telemarketers who hook in their own cell phones now. I've been plagued with these calls for several years now, I don't think there's any way to stop them.

DoNotCall = DoNotWORK

Forget about the Do Not Call List. I believe they are making these calls under the guise of not actually selling anything. I'm not saying it's right, but that's what they are doing.

I would make sure you hound your local attorney general's office with complaints and review your state's laws regarding harassing communications in order to file an incident report with local police.

Your phone company won't be able to do much to stop the calls as these scammers are spoofing caller IDs (also not a crime!!).

Card Holder Services Scam

Ha, these clowns started calling me a while back when I was traveling in the N. VA region, I played the press 2 to be removed game, it actually worked for a while. Then it started again, I got an obviously young slacker type on the phone, explained to him that I worked on a joint task force w/ several U.S. Gov't agencies and that we were actively tracking him via his auto dialer serial number and had isolated his location to within 2 square miles, to be patient and an associate of mine would be knocking on his door momentarily, he panicked ((I was shocked as I was b.s.-ing like a champ)) he actually apologized and ended the call politely, the calls after that point stopped for several months, unfortunately they've started again so now it's time to begin lying to them again, FYI NEVER give these idiots anything they ask for.

888-293-4792 - Just received

888-293-4792 - Just received an UNSOLICITED, UNREQUESTED, and ILLEGAL Automated Auto-Dialer Phone Call from "Annie" at "Account Services". She was calling to offer to lower my interest rates on my credit cards. Call offers NO Opt-Out Option whatsoever, which is also ILLEGAL. "Annie" also states that I have to call this number immediately to receive this special offer from them. Reporting to the FCC and BBB immediately. Yet another scam company violating numerous Federal Laws. ALL of my numbers are on the DO-NOT-CALL List.

Card Services Demons

I have received over 300 calls from these disgusting morons, over the course of a year. One day, they called me 10 times. I very politely asked them to take my name off of their call list, they slammed the phone in my ear. (I have done this several times). I repoted them to the Do Not Call List, which I am already on (nothing happened) . I called Jon Lieberman, chairman of the FTC , many many times. He never came to the phone, by the way, but I did get to know his secretary quite well. I called the Attorney Generals office in Florida about 3 times, they did absolutely nothing. I called the senator from New York, who was supposed to be in charge of nailing them, and left several messages. No response. I filed a report with the FCC, filled out a bunch of boring paperwork, they sent a response saying they could not do anything because I did not have the phone number from the offending party. UHHH, they spoof caller ID, as I stated in the report. Guess they can't read at the FCC. So much for the government doing thier job..... We have to keep on the FTC, it seems they are actually doing something about it now, but it seems Card Services just won't die.......

Rachel and card services current number

As of 8/23/2010 the # is 626-666-2000

RE:Card Services Demon

A call came to me just now, I have the phone number and called it back, it was a local, Atlanta cell phone number, an unprofessionally recorded message, said "leave your name and number and we WILL get back to you"! Then another recorded message says from cellular company, "the subscriber at this time cannot receive messages". How is the quickest way to report this crime? 404-503-2136...

THIS MANY-HEADED HYDRA IS HARD TO KILL

Looks like Annie didn't get the word that Heather got busted. I wonder just how many sisters-in crime Heather has? Well, we probably won't need to wait long to find out. There's just too much money to be made with this scam and the penalties are too little, too late to be effective.

ONE HOUR AND FOURTEEN MINUTES - BEAT THAT!

I got a call from Card Services and was amazed AND spooked by how much personal information they had on me and my wife. I grilled them over and over and spoke to 4 different people. It was when I finally spoke to "Daniel Garcia" with the hindu accent that I ended the call and promptly called both of my credit card companies to check them out. They are a total scam. Cancelled both of my cards just to be safe!

I did manage to eat up 1 hour and 14 minutes of their time. 1-877-443-1672 is the call back number I was given.

Busted?

A reader sent this link to me:

http://www.tulsaworld.com/business/article.aspx?subjectid=15&articleid=2...

From the article:

The FTC complaint alleges that in the past two years the defendants called consumers nationwide claiming the companies could negotiate with credit card issuers to substantially lower consumers' credit card interest rates. They also allegedly sent "robocalls" with urgent messages from "Card Services" or "Financial Services." They told consumers to "press 1" to speak to a representative about their credit card interest rates. Many consumers believed the calls were from their credit card issuers.

Consumers who signed up were charged $499 to $1,590 up front and promised their money back if the callers failed to deliver at least $2,500 in interest rate savings, the FTC alleged. Instead of arranging reduced interest rates, the defendants sent consumers instructions to pay down their credit card debts early, thus saving money on interest. Consumers who complained and demanded refunds were denied outright, got the run-around or had a $199 "nonrefundable fee" deducted from their refund.

Could this be the end of our (not so) dear friend, Heather With Account Services?

ONE PHONE NUMBER

310.568.6007 Call it and mess with them! The guy i spoke with is really stupid!

Cardmember Services

I have received over 200 calls from cardmember services. The recorded message goes something like "hello, this is Rachel" Would you like lower credit card interest rates as low as 6.9%. If so press this number or press this number to be placed on our do not call list.
I found a website that seems to be theirs (https://www.cardmemberservices.com/ccp/index.jsp?pg_name=ccpmapp/cms/exp...). Ironically the site is about protecting your identity! I called the number for personal cards (877-999-3872) I was asked to key in my 16 digit credit card number so I pressed 0 and got the "invalid response" reply. I then pressed 0, 16 times, I was transferred to a live person. Her voice had an accent and I am sure she has recorded a similar message that "Rachel" uses.
She asked me for my credit card number, after I explained to her that someone, with them, had been calling me repeatedly asking for my credit card number and social security number... She asked me for my credit card number and I told her I didn't have a card with them. She then asked me for my social security number!!!!!!!!! I told her she was doing what the callers do too often and I wanted it to stop. She said she could put me on their do no call list and I explained they had done that over 200 times already. I told her that her lack of concern bothered me and I asked her for a number to her legal department and she said she could give me a fax number. I said ok. I asked her for the name of the contact person. She asked me to hold... When she came back she said there was no fax number nor name but I could call this number 212-552-5043 and leave a message and someone would call me back... I believe this is the one calling us.

I also received a call from

I also received a call from Card Services, a nice chap who quickly built up trust. I almost bit, but decided to "think about it" and call him back, especially when he pressed for the number of a credit card that was not maxed. Having read some of the experiences on this site, I'm glad I didn't comply with his request. If their scam is to charge a fee to our cards, then perhaps the solution is to innocently say our cards are maxed and ask if they can still help reduce our interest rates.

"No? Oh crap! Your offer was sounding so good. Thanks anyway."

Hang up the phone and smirk.

Has anyone tried this tactic?

TWO AND ONE-HALF YEARS AND COUNTING

Please note that the first post on this site is dated November 3rd, 2007. In spite of using every trick in the book on these turd maggots, they're stlll trying to steal your money. Even such big shots as CNN reporters and U.S. Senators have been harassed and very little has been done to stop them. For those of you familiar with some of the names and addresses posted here, maybe it's time for a little "extracurricular" activity. A few less-that-pleasant headlines on the national news might be what it takes to convince these wad-weasels that there are safer ways to commit felonies. Just sayin.

Card Services

Yes, they are at it again. I am on a do not call list, but they still keep calling.
The number that showed up on my caller id is 402-982-0419. They knew where I lived and the type of credit card I have. They tried to sell me fraud insurance for $17.99 a month. They said that they are contracted with my credit card company. I declined and the caller got angry and wanted to know why I wouldn't buy anything. I hung up. I called my credit card company which told me that is a scam. People illegally obtain your credit card information and then try to pose as a contractor for the credit company and sell you things that you don't want. I believe the caller company said they were Senergy Solutions. BEWARE. In this time of economic crisis- people are trying anything and everything.

Card Services International

They are at it again, but these guys must be amateurs - they don't even pretend to be legitimate. When I asked who he was he said "I am the credit card rate reducer". Asked what company he was with: hung up.

Pretty sad. phone number he called from was 659-000-5617
Caller ID said "name not found"

Scam

I have been getting this scam call every few days for a while now, so I had some fun the last time they called. I played with them for about an hour! First I got Juan (extension 254). I told him I had 6 cards with at least 30K of debt. He said that's perfect and asked for my card number. When I questioned him, he directed me to the BBB, but refused to give his company name or website. I gave him a made up card number. He asked for the bank's phone number, and I gave him the number of an FBI field office. He put me on hold for 5 minutes, and came back and said they had never heard of that card number before, and asked if I had a different phone number. I gave him the number of an adult chat line. Hold for another 5 minutes. This was the best part: he came back on the line and had DEFINITELY called the chat line. He asked if I was joking, and I said I must have misread the phone number on the card. I asked to speak to a manager. I got Allen, who seemed drunk, and was very rude and kept interrupting me. After 10 minutes back and forth, he gave me their website and phone number. By that point, I was bored, so I got off the call.

Their website is:

I say oh its free, well no its not free we will explain that later. I did waste there time. I will continue to call back to waste there time and try to get more info.
